What exactly does the Parliamentary dimension entail?
Each of the 28 countries of the European Union takes turns to hold the Presidency of the European Union for a six-month period. In the first half of 2016, this will be the Netherlands, succeeding Luxembourg (second half of 2015) and preceding Slovakia (second half of 2016).
As part of this, the government and parliament host a number of conferences. The six conferences run by the Dutch parliament – the Senate and the House of Representatives together – are referred to as the Parliamentary dimension of the EU Presidency.
